Igorots for Manny B. Villar

Leaders come and go....and the country's problems remain, and have gotten worse. Poverty, degradation of the environment, crime and public disorder, graft and corruption, broken families....and a broadening decay of moral values.  We have become blind and deaf to what history has taught us, and we are reaping the fruits of our insensitivity. We have become allowed ourselves to become slaves to what is worldly, sucking us deeper into the morass of greed, apathy and selfishness.

It is thus with trepidation that I am proposing that Igorots all over stand behind a leader who could provide us with the example of how we could overcome the growing despair and inertia brought about by the decay of our society. A self-made man.....God-fearing, appreciative of his roots and the value of the family as society's basic unit, calm and sober in the midst of passions aroused by conflict:

Manuel B. Villar.

Bordeaux:

For the information of all, I'll send official and unofficial backgrounds on the man.  MB Villar is the standard bearer of the Nacionalista Party (which may become the dominant party of a coalition to include a breakaway faction of the Lakas-Kampi) for President in 2010. But he wishes to inform everyone that, at the moment, his main concern is to focus on his work as Senate President, by seeing to it that vital legislations shall be passed before 2010.

Thanks for your interest.....

Re: Igorots for Manny B. Villar

Thanks, Amiga.

The demolition job has just begun.  After MB Villar announced that he will run in the 2010 Presidential Elections, attacks from all sides came rushing in, including broadsides from Korina Sanchez, who's not yet the wife of Presidential wannabee, Mar Roxas. Other wannabess, Legarda and Gordon also signed a resolution seeking an explanation on Villar's supposed involvement in a "double insertion" of a road project worth P200 million and bloated to P400 million.

MB Villar denies involvement.  It just so happens that this controversial road project runs through his bailiwick in Paranaque-Las Pinas, and that's that. His opponents are panicking, and are using the media painting him as a corrupt schemer. He does not need the money.  Here's why.

In a meeting this morning with his staff and supporters, one apparently "new" supporter, asked Senator Villar:  "Sir, mayaman na kayo. Hinde mo na kailangan mag-payaman pa. Bakit mo gustong maging presidente?  To this, MB Villar, a deeply religious (he's a member of the Couples for Christ) individual, replied: "Naniniwala ako na mayroon po akong magagawa sa ikakabuti ng ating bayan." Incidentally, at his office in Mandaluyong City  is displayed a portrait of the late John F. Kennedy, with the oft-abused quotation: "ASK not what your country could do for you, but WHAT you could do for your country."

He maintains that his concern at the moment is his work as Senator of the Republic. He may have announced his interest in the Presidency, but he made it clear that his official campaign activities shall not commence until the COMELEC approves the campaign schedule.

Trust in the Lord. And things shall naturally fall into place as He has ordained. smile

Re: Igorots for Manny B. Villar

Thank you, Tambay sa Dap-ay...(Has a nice ring to it smile

BTW, I am not a brod of MB Villar of Pan Xenia.  I am a member of the Pi Omicron Fraternity, the same organization which counts Baguio City Mayor Rey Bautista as among its illustrious members.  Also a member is the son of the famous writer, Amador Daguio, an Ilocano who grew up in Lubuagan, from where he got his inspiration for several of his gut-wrenching poetry and short stories...Danny Daguio. There is also Eric Picart, tourism officer of the City, Rey Baquiren and Romy Matias -- both alumni of the St Louies High in New Lucban.  Unfortunately, haan da met nga Igorot, ngem dinmakkel da ditoy Baguio.

Why am I telling this?  These people were among those who gathered in a small meeting in Manila, alongside various professionals -- doctors, engineers, lawyers, who decided that, based on a political sensitivity analysis using values-based indicators (integrity, competence, Godliness, and respect for the environment), MB Villar would make an ideal president. These people -- several of them who put their plans to migrate to US, Canada and Australia on hold, said: "Enough is enough. Let's vote for someone who could help save this country from declining further!" MB Villar is their choice as the country's next leader.  Let's make him also our choice....the Igorot's choice.

Re: Igorots for Manny B. Villar

Yes.... After passing the Board (am not so sure of the year....69 or 70), he launched his business of selling real estate, with a capital of P10,000 with focus on middle-income housing, and simultaneously enroled in Masters in Business Ad, also at UP.

Here's the view of Fr. Faraon on the Recent attacks on MB Villar re the "Road To Nowhere" published today in Daily Tribune:

Real roads to nowhere
TABLETS OF STONE

Larry Faraon, OP

09/14/2008
It is not the C-5 or Carlos P. Garcia Avenue that is the road to nowhere but the brand of Philippine corrupt politics we have today. We’re back. 2010 seems not to be in the horizon but right in front of everyone’s eyes dangling like a pendulum that moves back and forth leading up to nowhere except hypnotizing those who desire power and destroy whatever and whoever obstructs the pendulum. And again, even from among the opposition, Speaker Manny Villar is coming out as a threat to other presidential aspirants and the demolition efforts are obviously on the upswing.

Of course, who wouldn’t be threatened by Sen. Manny Villar — a telenovela like story of rags to riches (sipag at tiyaga), a political track record of success by being a Speaker and a Senate President for both houses of Congress, a record of moral uprightness, academic excellence, a track record of public service untainted by corruption and of course, the personal funds necessary to make it to the presidency. And already, the tears of Rep. Cynthia Villar are revealing the inroads of political pain for a political gain. As the congresswoman-wife of Senator Villar says, indeed, as politicians they are used to such tirades but sometimes it becomes too personal and cuts like a knife especially when the accusations are totally untrue and unfair. The politics of demolition and destruction, the brand we have in this country is definitely leading us to the road to nowhere or worse, to the road to perdition.

Re: Igorots for Manny B. Villar

Here are some views on the so-called Lacson "expose" made in Senate. Senator Lacson is a presidential wannabe, along with some senatongs who -- by their actions, or omissions, facilitated the detrioration of the Senate into a stable of lies, innuendoes, and fabrications.  They should charge Senator Villar in the courts of law, if they have evidence he really did something illegal... Hanggang ngayon, wala pa....

The views:

Lacson last week claimed that the C-5 extension was “a road to nowhere.”

However, Manila Times' Efren Danao thinks otherwise. “The C-5 road extension is not a “road to nowhere.” Many had thought that the P200 million was enough to complete the project, so the second P200 million would no longer be needed.” (http://www.manilatimes.net/national/200 … 5opi5.html)

Former Senator Francisco Tatad is giving the Senate leadership the benefit of the doubt. "Senate President Manny Villar seems confident the public would be reassured once the whole truth is known." (http://franciscotatad.blogspot.com/2008 … enate.html)

Manuel Bonoan, a senior undersecretary of the DPWH, clarified that the two appropriations that Lacson found under similar entries for the C-5 road extension were for two components of just one project.

The project is called the “Alignment of the C-5 Road” and is aimed at connecting the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) and to the Coastal Road in Parañaque and Las Piñas.

“The P400 million appropriated for the project was for its two components: The SLEx flyover and the Manila-Cavite coastal roadway,” Bonoan said in a phone interview.

Bonoan said the two components received P200 million each but that P3.7 billion was still needed to complete the entire project. (http://services.inquirer.net/print/prin … _id=160391)

Parañaque legislator, Roilo Golez, the senior deputy minority leader, said the C-5 extension project has been in the “master plan” for over a decade.

“That has been part of the C-5 master plan for more than 10 years. It will connect both first and second districts of Parañaque to Las Piñas and Cavite to the South and Makati, Taguig, Pateros, Pasig, Quezon City, etc. to the northeast,” Golez said.

If Lacson and Madrigal really has the meat and evidence surrounding an infrastructure project, why didn't they charge Senate President Villar in court instead?

Re: Igorots for Manny B. Villar

actually, if the intention is really to increase the funding/appropriation for the C-5 extension, they could have easily done so under the same name of the project and lacson would have no basis to create innuendos. why use different entry names and different appropriations for the same project if the whole project even needs a bigger amount?

i don't believe though that Manny Villar profited from the said appropriation because it's just an appropriation. It will, however, pave the way for the other agencies such as the DBM and DPWH to create hocus-pocus on the amount appropriated.

Re: Igorots for Manny B. Villar

You hit it on the nail, Marc.... The DPWH people thus got red in the face, trying to explain in layman's terms why different entry names were used in a single infrastructure program. Their explanation is that the different entries actually refer to similarly different components in the same infrastructure program. For us ordinary folks, its hard to digest this kind of gobbledygook, which have been exploited by other people for political mileage.
